After a two-year absence, the American Band College returned to Ashland this week for three weeks of clinics and two public concerts set for Sunday, June 26, at the Craterian Theater in Medford and Mo.
Palm Beach Symphony announces the winners of the 2021 Randolph A. Frank Prize, which recognizes their contributions to enriching the quality of the performing arts in Palm Beach County. With prizes totaling $10,000, director Kenneth Kay; Director of Bands/Department Chairman at The Conservatory School Cleve A. Maloon; and Director of Bands at Lake Worth High School Tiffany Cox will be honored in the categories of performing artist, performing arts educator and emerging performing arts educator, respectively.

LEXINGTON, Ky. (May 7, 2021) The University of Kentucky welcomes Shayna Stahl as director of Athletic Bands and assistant director of Bands in the School of Music. Stahl will become the first woman to serve as the director of the Wildcat Marching Band. Stahl will also serve as director of the UK Pep Bands and as the conductor of the UK Concert Band.
“I am very pleased that Dr. Stahl will be joining us at the UK School of Music this summer,” said Stan Pelkey, director of the UK School of Music. “Dr. Stahl is an experienced director of athletic bands who has worked with Division I athletic bands for the past 15 years. She will be ready from her first day on campus to guide the Wildcat Marching Band toward a successful fall season.

State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) student Chloe Armentrout was recognized as Music Student of the Month in December by the Florida College System Activities Association (FCSAA), which regulates, coordinates and promotes statewide intercollegiate activities.
Armentrout is the principal clarinet player in the SCF Symphonic Band, head stage crew member and a representative of the SCF Music program at Student Government Association meetings. She was also chosen by the SCF Music faculty to be a woodwind competitor in Florida s Student Artist Competition to be held on Thursday, Jan. 21 and recently was awarded a $500 scholarship by Women Band Directors International, an international organization that represents women band directors of all levels.
