She said Leah and friends weren’t supposed to be playing at the boat launch that day, and that the 7-year-old got taken by the current when she and another child went swimming in the river.

Lafayette County officials said the girl and two other children had gone into the river near the County M boat landing west of Woodford. The river’s current swept the girl under the water, and officials said they found her body early Sunday morning. The girl’s family has identified her as Leah Foster. Leah was the youngest of three children and attended Blackhawk School District. Leah’s aunt Trish Foster told News 3 Now she loved the outdoors and spending time with friends and family.
