The Louisiana Workforce Commission says that Louisiana’s April 2021 not seasonally adjusted unemployment rate fell by 6.1 percentage points to 6.6% from the April 2020 rate of 12.7%.

According to the Midland Reporter-Telegram, the Texas Workforce Commission reports that April unemployment in Midland and Martin counties fell from 7.6% to 6.8% which is better numbers from April 2020 when Midland was at 10.2%. Latest job totals reflect continuing recovery in Houma-Thibodaux and across Louisiana Houma-Thibodauxs job total was up 3,600 compared to April 2020, the first full month of COVID-19 pandemic losses, new figures show. In another sign that economic recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic is underway, Austins unemployment rate last month fell below 5% for the first time since December 2020 and to its lowest point in a year.
