California Rep. Mark Takano isnt the only House member to push a bill in Congress calling for a four-day workweek. Previous efforts have failed.

..FOUR DAY WORK-WEEK – A Congressman from California, Mark Takano, reintroduced a 32-hour Workweek Act to Congress. If passed, that would amend the Fair Labor Standards Act and would officially reduce the standard definition of a workweek as 32 hours instead of 40. This would also apply to hourly jobs and anything over 32

The bill would not eliminate longer workweeks but would require employers to pay time-and-a-half for overtime at 32 hours.
