The annual Memorial Day program at the Swift County Historical Museum in Benson included a presentation by Rob Wolfington, who told the stories of several Civil War veterans buried in the city cemetery.
The ceremony will be held indoors tomorrow morning. The celebration will feature keynote speaker Quindola Crowley, retired Lt. Colonel of the U.S. Army.
Veterans for Peace, Chapter 100, will be observing Armistice Day this Saturday starting at 10:45 a.m. with a ringing of the bell at the Capitol Building on 4th Street at 11 a.m. The public is invited to attend and help ring the bell.
In 1917, the Clay County Fair Association started to organize Clay County Fair in Spencer. The first Clay County Fair was held Sept. 24-27, 1918, which was six weeks before
