With the full festival unable to take place once again due to the pandemic, the organisers have submitted an application to Mendip District Council for permission to hold a two-day event at Worthy Farm in September, reports SomersetLive. The proposed event would use only the famous Pyramid Stage, with a capacity of just under 50,000 – around half of the stage’s usual capacity. And unlike the main Glastonbury Festival, there would be no overnight camping.

Up to 50,000 people could attend Glastonbury s Worthy Farm site this September after plans were submitted to the local council for a two-day concert. The festival s organisers, Michael and Emily Eavis, are hoping to stage an event later this year after they were forced to cancel the main June festival earlier this year, for a second consecutive year due to the coronavirus pandemic. New details recently submitted to Mendip District Council about plans for the smaller spin-off event reveal that it would only the main Pyramid Stage field at Worthy Farm and the event would have a maximum capacity of 49,999 people, with four separate car parks close to the main concert arena. More than 200,000 people typically attend Glastonbury, and this smaller event would also not feature any overnight camping facilities for attendees.

With no Glastonbury Festival taking place for a second year running, promoters Michael and Emily Eavis decided to turn Worthy Farm into a giant campsite over the school holidays. Dubbed Worthy Pastures, the site promises a tranquil, family-friendly campsite which will welcome guests to get back to basics in nature, with a range of pre-erected, unfurnished bell tents and scout tents available to hire for 3-, 4- and 5-night stays. Depending on the amount of nights booked, campers either arrive on Wednesday, Thursday or Friday (with check-out on Monday).

Glastonbury organisers Michael and Emily Eavis are setting up a “tranquil, family-friendly campsite” on the site of the much-loved festival this summer. A website went live late last week revealing that over this year s summer holidays, part of Worthy Farm will be transformed into Worthy Pastures. Tickets went on sale on Saturday. Described as a chance to get back to basics , Worthy Pastures is offering a range of unfurnished bell tents and scout tents that are available to hire for three-, four- and five-night stays. Food traders, bars and a “village store” that will sell local produce, will all be set up on the site also.
