Bidens public schedule today is his closed classified intelligence briefing. but we also know that the presidents u.n. ambassador, linda thomas greenfield, she was supposed to be on a trip to africa today, but late yesterday e the white house announcing she will stay in new york to deal with diplomacy with ukraine and russia at the united nations. the u.s. is awaiting at this hour a written response from russia to the u.s. most recent diplomatic offer. putin in that phone call said that such a w...

>> odonnell: good evening, and thank you for joining us. this could be a critical week as the threat of war looms in ukraine. tonight, president biden is warning russia nat it will face swift and severe consequences should it attack, adding that the u.s. and its allies are continuing to prepare for every scenario. the cold war foes faced off today at the u.n. security security council, calling for the deescalation of the largest mobilization of troops in decades. cbs news learned russia just del...

Two teachers were injured, no children. pewens foreign minister sending a written response, flatly rejecting proposals for a diplomatic path forward and on his way to a security conference, secretary blinken detouring to tell the security council russia is in effect lying. >> we dont know precise lee how things will play out. but heres what the world can expect to see unfold. russia plans to manufacture a pretext for its attack. this could be a violent event that russia will blame on ukraine or ...

Russia may describe this event as ethnic cleansing or a genocide, making a mockery of a concept that we in this chamber do not take lightly. nor do i take lightly based on my family history. in the past few days, russian media has already begun to spread some of these false alarms and claims to maximize public outrage, to lay the groundwork for an inventive justification for war. today, that only intensified in russias state controlled media. weve heard the allegations from russian backed speake...

Delivered their response to the u.s. written response, it came with, as you mentioned, a notification that the deputy ambassador was being expelled, and it was what we have been hearing at the core, that russia is interested in diplomacy, so long that diplomacy gets them what they want. >> exactly. richard haass, the thing about this, it did remind me, you sort of look at the saying that there are atrocities that you dont have evidence of, sort of building it up making it sound that you would on...

Unturned. if russia is committed to diplomacy, were presenting every opportunity for it to demonstrate that commitment. i have no doubt that the response to my remarks here today will be more dismissals from the russian government about the united states stoking hysteria or that it has no plans to invade ukraine. so let me make this simple. the russian government can announce today with no qualifications, equivocation or deflection that russia will not invade ukraine, stated clearly, stated plai...

Reciprocal steps we can take in the near term to address our respective concerns and advance the collective security of russia, united states and european partners and allies. this morning, we received a response, which we evaluate. earlier today, i sent a letter to russias foreign minister sergey lavrov proposing we meet next week in europe following on our talks in recent weeks to discuss the steps we can take to resolve this crisis without conflict. were also forriproposing meetif the council...

Breakthrough here. this is not something where the united states said we will meet with our partners and allies and we will come out with some sort of solution here. the russians arent even going to be at the table in munich. it is important to note this comes on the heels of continued russian aggressions, right. we heard from a senior u.s. official, as you guys have been discussing last night, that in recent days the russians added 7,000 troops to the border with ukraine. of course on the contr...

Sort of various ploys on the international stage. putin and the foreign minister lavrov met with a number of leaders and foreign ministers to see what room they might have and see what response they might take, and this response is, appears from the read of it, we have so far 11 pages, i believe, it is quite a damning response and so i think the response to secretary blinkens words today in moscow is not really going to be able to hear very well what is said and to turn on to what their deputy f...

Secretary of state antony blinken. but president biden, everyone is calling it into question. weve also heard today from russia now issuing its long-awaited written response to the united states response to russias security proposals or demands. this has taken three weeks for russia to write this all down. and what they are saying is that because their core security concerns have not been met, they will have to take steps that may include military, technical measures. now this is a sort of langu...
