Restaurants, shops, government offices â these are a few of the things that come to mind when most Danville residents hear the words "Memorial Drive." But nestled into the downtown street is something else â a community farm that works to increase access to healthy and fresh foods for area residents.
With a handful of 70-degree-plus days this week acting as the harbingers of springtime following a brutal winter, the God's Storehouse Urban Farm is preparing to make some big changes in its mission to both feed the community and provide a constructive hobby for at-risk children in the area.
"I'm feeding the hungry, and I'm bringing in at-risk youth and teaching them how to live off the land," farm manager Stephanie Adkins said.
