Overbrook High School will receive $500,000 from the Pennsylvania Department of Education to improve safety and communications technology at the school, state Rep. Morgan Cephas said. The funding comes after the Nov. 23 shooting that wounded four students one block away from the school.
Three suspects in September’s deadly shooting near Roxborough High will be charged with murder in a separate fatal shooting that happened the day before.
Saleem Miller, 16, was taken into custody Tuesday in connection to the Sept. 27 shooting at Roxborough High School, which killed Nicolas Elizalde and wounded four other teenagers, police said. Miller is the fourth suspect arrested. Five of the six people wanted by police have been identified. One of them, Dayron Burney-Thorne, remains a fugitive.
A $5,000 reward for the arrest of Dayron Burney-Thorne, one of six suspects who allegedly took part in the Roxborough High School shooting that killed Nicolas Elizalde and wounded four other teenagers, is being offered by the U.S. Marshals. An arrest warrant was issued Oct. 4, but Burney-Thorne has remained at large. He is considered armed and dangerous.
Philadelphia police identified 15-year-old Troy Fletcher as the fourth of six suspects wanted in connection to the Sept. 27 shooting at Roxborough High School, which killed 14-year-old Nicholas Elizalde and injured four other teens. Authorities have arrested two suspects and have identified two others, while another two have not yet been named. The shooting happened after a high school football scrimmage and is believed to have been a targeted ambush on a 17-year-old boy who was injured in the attack.
