Cape closed: Traditional Owners lock up the Tip, after tourists defecate on sacred sites

The tip of Cape York has been shut off to visitors, and Local Elders have called for toilet upgrades in the area, after reports of tourists defecating, littering and leaving graffiti on sacred sites. Michael Solomon, chairman of the Gudang/Yadhaykenu Aboriginal Corporation, says it s insulting that locals and volunteers have to clean up the mess left by tourists visiting Country. Town to send off rising star killed by jellyfish

The loss of a young person (is tragic,) nobody knows, only god knows his pathway, Mr Solomon said. He had his pathway and football career and all of sudden it got cut-off by a jelly fish. The deepest sympathy from the Gudang/Yadhaykenu Aboriginal Corporation to the family for the loss.
