Seven government schools in the Belagavi educational district are all set to embrace the Pradhan Mantri Schools for Rising India (PM SHRI) scheme initiated by the central government. A total of 100 schools had applied from the district to be enrolled under PM SHRI. Of these, only seven have made the cut. In the first phase, a grant of Rs 2.9 crore was released for the development of these seven Belagavi schools. According to the authorities, work worth Rs 75.7 lakh has been completed so far. The project will see a complete overhaul of the pedagogical system at these schools, along with building of green campuses. Teachers will also undergo training as part of the project. Many more schools are expected to be selected in the 2024-25 academic session.
