Forces aligned with Yemen’s Southern Transitional Council drove Houthi rebels out of the strategic Al Fakher region to deprive the Iran-backed militia of an essential source of revenue, officials and residents said.
Al Fakher, a rich agricultural district known for cultivating coffee beans and qat trees, links the southern province of Dhalea with Ibb to its north-west.
The southern forces, that fight alongside the internationally recognised government, killed more than 26 rebels in heavy clashes that started on Saturday and lasted 12 hours, Capt Mohammed Al Naqeeb, spokeman of the STC forces, told

Anadolu reported. Today, the Yemeni presidential system leaked a decision to dismiss Major General Fadl Muhammad Abdullah Baish from his duties as commander of the special security forces in the governorates of Aden, Abyan, Lahj, and Al-Dhale, STC spokesman, Ali Al Kathiri, said in a statement, adding that the decision is totally rejected .
The STC pledged in the statement to prevent the implementation of the decision , saying that it is not worth the ink it was written with and can only be implemented on social media .

Yemen’s UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) forces have detained and tortured Yemeni journalist Adel al-Hasani, forcing him to confess to spying for foreign countries through his work, Human Rights Watch has said.
Hasani, an Aden-based investigative journalist, producer and fixer for international journalists, was detained on 17 September 2020 when STC forces stopped his car at al-Alam checkpoint at the eastern entrance to the southern Aden governorate, HRW said on Monday, quoting a source.
