Yeshivat He Atid Celebrates Chanukah With School-Wide Maccabiah

Yeshivat He’Atid Celebrates Chanukah With School-Wide Maccabiah By JLNJ Staff | December 24, 2020 Maccabiah at Yeshivat He’atid was a blast for all! The students were divided into teams of red, yellow and blue. There were many activities planned for the children throughout the day. Socially distanced, students and teachers participated in a school-wide musical Bingo game and so much more. They played Chanukah songs over the loudspeaker, and everyone had to guess the song to get a vertical row of song names to win Bingo! The Maccabiah events continued with a photo/video scavenger hunt around the school, Panoply Game, Minute to Win It Challenge and socially distant relay races. Of course, no Chanukah Maccabiah is complete without delicious sufganiyot for everyone to enjoy. Congratulations to the yellow team on their well-deserved win! The early-childhood blue team was also a clear winner!

Mermelstein Family Marks Shelly s First Yahrzeit

By Michal Rosenberg | December 16, 2020 It’s hard to believe a year has gone by since the horrific car accident that shook the Teaneck community and claimed the life of Shelly Mermelstein, z”l, longtime Teaneck resident, beloved community staple and true baal chesed. In honor of his first yahrzeit, his family gathered together Motzei Shabbat Chanukah, with some close friends, to make two siyumim and remember a man who valued Torah and family above all. Before the Mermelsteins’ oldest son, Chaim Mayer, made a siyum on Shisha Sidrei Mishna, he shared that in every masechet he learned he found something to remind him of his father something his father was careful about or interested in; that is the result of living a life dedicated to Torah.
