Dimapur, Nov. 17 (EMN): Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) under Home department conducted the Nagaland Emergency Preparedness Exercise (NEPEx), a state-wide mega mock exercise, on November 17. The exercise was conducted simulating an earthquake scenario with a magnitude of 8.7 on the Richter scale. The exercise was carried out to test the capability of the state to respond and also manage any mega-disaster, a DIPR report stated. Mon: In Mon, an incident response team for the exercise was instituted with the deputy commissioner of Mon, Ajit Kumar Verma, as the responsible officer and the ADC of Mon, Y Chingyak Konyak, as the incident commander. The exercise was carried out in four incident sites at Home Guard and Civil Defence and SDRF Office, KNSK building, DPRO office building, and District Hospital. Dimapur, July 10 (EMN): Longleng district planning and development board (DPDB) meeting was held under the chairmanship of the new deputy commissioner and vice chairman of DPDB Longleng, Dharam Raj, on July 7. The DC, while welcoming the members, exhorted the HoD to be more active by sharing their wisdom and past experiences in the DPDB, a DIPR report stated. Raj stated that expression of difference in opinion was required to have innovative solutions to every problem and added that innovative solutions could only be achieved through active participation of the members. He also appealed for better coordination of all the government agencies with the district administration. Dimapur, June 6 (EMN): Nagaland Governor Prof. Jagdish Mukhi on Monday said that Phom Day should not be only about laying down of arms and spears but should also be “about laying down of our pride, greed, isms, misunderstandings and prejudice”. He was addressing the 70th Phom Day on the theme “Proliferating Phom Day Beyond” at the Public Ground in Longleng, which was also attended by his wife; Minister of Health and Family Welfare S Pangnyu Phom; MLA BS Nganlang; and many other dignitaries.
