JOHOR BARU: The Johor Government has sent a request to the Local Government Development Ministry to help mobilise more Solid Waste Management and Public Cleansing Corporation (SWCorp) assets for Batu Pahat.
YONG PENG: Traders at the Yong Peng public market will receive RM1,000 in immediate financial assistance following a fire that broke at the market early Thursday (March 31) morning.
YONG PENG: The newly-opened vaccination centre (PPV) here, which would be able to vaccinate 2,000 people a day at its peak capacity, will help the nation meet its vaccination target, says Transport Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong.
He said the PPV, located at the Yong Peng Che Ann Khor Moral Uplifting Society multi-purpose hall, had 998 appointments on its first day of operation yesterday.
“This includes some senior citizens aged 99, 97 and 94. And over time, the number of vaccines dispensed will increase to its maximum capacity of 2,000 doses a day.
“This PPV is considered quite big with around 200 medical staff and volunteers available to assist those who show up for their vaccination appointment,” he said after visiting the PPV.
Makcik Kiah (not her real name), 82, has lived in a
kampung (village) house built by her husband for the past 60 years.
They have raised four children who are now residing in cities to earn a living.
Her husband is bedbound due to a stroke and she is his only caregiver, looking after all his needs and cleaning up after him.
Makcik Kiah has heard about Covid-19 on the evening news and is aware that vaccination is important to reduce the risk of contracting the infectious disease.
However, she feels helpless as she is unable to leave her husband unattended to travel to the vaccination centre in town.
YONG PENG: A new integrated vaccination centre (PPV) will open near a tourist attraction here on July 18.
Ayer Hitam MP Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong, who is also Transport Minister, said the PPV would be set up at the multi-purpose hall located within the Che Ann Khor Moral Uplifting Society here.
The society is also home to a 106.9m-long dragon tunnel dubbed the Prosperity Dragon, which was launched by Johor Ruler Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar in 2016.
Dr Wee said the PPV would be able to administer 500 doses a day once it started operating, before gradually increasing to 2,000 doses from 8am to 5pm a day.
