but i think it s really important to understand that when donald trump was perhaps at his most dangerous in 2016, at this point where he could have been stopped, republicans like dick and liz cheney did not try to stop him. most republicans felt, got on board. in fact, they were in the culture of the party as it now exists, which is more interested in winning office and holding power than it isn t doing right by the country. stuart, what do you make of the fact that, per axios reporting, some republicans [inaudible] are quietly backing shiny cheney in her primary and cannot in this primary? let s just pause for a second, how extraordinary it is, what we are talking about. we are saying that republican operatives are supporting a cheney, who is a member of congress, trying to get her reelected in wyoming. i mean, we really reached a point where that is worthy of a
