After 14 months of construction, Young Development is getting ready to open the first of a dozen new apartment buildings at 6386 Transit Road, as part of the $90 million

VAN BUREN -- The city is working to buy 2.3 acres as part of a plan to improve its Fire Department.

The Elma-based development firm is proposing to construct the Springs at West Seneca, with a cluster of five 10-unit apartment buildings and one five-unit apartment building.

The library branch will be shuttered May 6 to make way for a development that will include a new library, retail space and homes by the fall of 2024.

The Plan Commission recommended selling the current library site, at King Drive and Locus Street, and two other parcels to the projects developers.

Members of the Harvey D. Morin VFW Post #2940 have donated about $385,000 in the last 45 days to local nonprofits.
