KARACHI: Mobile phone snatchers shot dead a youth sitting outside his home in Karachi’s Landhi on Sunday, ARY News reported.
Kashan, brother of two sisters, was working as a graphic designer in a private firm.
Detailing the incident, the neighbours of the victim said Kashan was sitting outside his home due to prolonged power outages in the port city when two motorcyclists came and tried to snatch his cellphone.
Upon offering resistance, the robbers opened fire on Kashan, killing him on the spot and they managed to flee the scene.
It is pertinent to mention here that incidents of murders during snatching bids have occurred frequently in the city and in one such incident recently, a layman selling peanuts succumbed to bullet injuries he conceded while resisting an alleged robbery bid on Saturday near Baldia Town’s Yousuf Goth.

KARACHI: In a shocking incident, a man left paralyzed after a large billboard collapsed on him during the recent dust storm in Karachi, ARY News reported.
According to Syed Ashar Shah, the victim, he was enjoying a walk after taking lunch when the huge billboard of a shopping mall, where he serves as a salesman, suddenly fall on him during the dust storm.
After hearing his screams, passersby pulled him from under the billboard. Unable to walk, Ashar Shah said that he was feeling severe pain in his backbone at that time and he was rushed to a private hospital in Gulshan-e-Iqbal.
Met Office forecast light rainfall with dusty winds in Karachi today

KARACHI: Chief Meteorological Officer on Wednesday forecast light rainfall with dusty winds in Karachi and other parts of Sindh, ARY News reported.
“Karachi will experience maximum temperature between 38-40 degrees Celsius today,” the weather official further said.
Yesterday Karachi received rainfall with dust storm under the influence of Arabian Sea Cyclone Tauktae. The city received 7mm rainfall at Masroor Base and 06mm rain at Surjani, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).
The rain lashed Karachi’s Surjani Town, New Karachi, Yousuf Goth, Taisar Town and Khuda Ki Basti as well as other parts of the city on Tuesday.
Woman found hanged
A woman allegedly committed suicide at her house in Yousuf Goth on Saturday.
According to the Surjani Town police, the body of the woman was transported to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico-legal formalities where she was identified as 33-year-old Rani, wife of Sajjad.
The woman’s in-laws told the police that that she ended her life by hanging herself from a ceiling fan over unexplained reasons. The police said they were investigating the case from different angles.
Separately, the body of a Korean national was found at his house in Lyari’s Khadda Market. The body was transported to the Civil Hospital where he was identified as 62-year-old Chevan. Kalri police SHO Zulfiqar said the man died a natural death.
