We know at least one league newcomer — BYU, Cincinnati, Houston or UCF — will earn a league win this week. Here are a few more subplots from the Conference of Chaos.

It was a simple question, posed on social media (X, the site formerly called Twitter) by long-time and now retired Salt Lake Tribune sports writer Steve Luhm. Luhm’s question wasn’t directed at Utah State coach Blake Anderson. “Yes ... they do,” Anderson wrote, including an angry-faced emoji in the post for good measure.

There are big-time chores at hand for BYU and Utah on Friday night. BYU really needs to take care of business at home against Cincinnati and attacking a stiff Bearcats defense with a balanced attack is at the top of the agenda. With defense of its Pac-12 title at stake, No. 10 undefeated Utah needs to produce a scoring offense to complement its top-10 defense in order to chase explosive teams like USC, Oregon and Washington on the field.

Kansas quarterback Jalon Daniels already has delivered one program-shaking play in Austin. Quinn Ewers guided Texas to a win over Alabama that changed the trajectory of the season for the Longhorns. The No. 24 Jayhawks and No. 3 Longhorns meet Saturday with both teams 4-0, and it will be Daniels' game-winning, scrambling 2-point conversion pass to Jared Casey in overtime in 2021 that will get talked about all week.

Texas is clearly the best football team in the Big 12, but Kansas, K-State and TCU are quietly looking like contenders early on in conference play.

Cincinnati enjoyed about as much success as possible for a Group of Five football program the last five years. The Bearcats were fixtures in the Top 25, won a couple of conference championships and played for a third, and they even made it to a College Football Playoff. The realization of joining the highest ranks of big-time college sports didn't hit home until Fox television's traveling Big Noon Kickoff pregame show arrived on campus for the inaugural Big 12 game against Oklahoma.

The Big 12 has released its conference basketball schedule. Here are some thoughts on Kansas State’s slate

As the Jayhawks prepare for a showdown with No. 3 Texas this weekend, one KU player was honored by the Big 12 for his performance last week.

Beloved shows like FLCL, Spy x Family, and Castlevania will return this fall

No. 3 Texas opens its Big 12 schedule on the road at Baylor on Saturday. The Longhorns (3-0) are 15-point favorites.
