彰化縣永靖鄉昨（28）晚傳出歹徒持刀襲警！員林警分局永靖分駐所警員張稟新昨晚追捕有毒品前科的詹姓通緝犯，竟遇到詹姓男子持菜刀攻擊，導致頸部後方遭劃傷，但仍奮不顧身逮人，手臂也被詹男咬傷，幸好另一員警即時趕到，把歹徒手中的菜刀搶下，才化解危機；張稟新經送醫治療後並無大礙，詹嫌則罪加一等，依多項通緝、傷害及妨害公務等罪移送法辦。員林警分局表示，警方昨晚近11點獲報詹男（42歲）蹤跡，永靖分駐所警員林志陽及張稟新前往緝捕，不過，詹男發現被警方鎖定，立即潛逃回家中躲藏，警方也隨後追到，詹男見狀，竟衝進廚房，拿出一把約11公分長菜刀攻擊員警。
