On Nov. 2, Bethel City Council and Orutsararmiut Native Council will meet together for the first time since August 2018. Among the agenda items are a proposed plan to transfer the land under the ONC Multipurpose Building back to the tribe, and a discussion on how the entities can better combat violence.

A 46 year-old former community health aide from Kasigluk died from COVID-19

When Sharon Slim tested positive for COVID-19, she didn’t go to the hospital right away. She was living in Anchorage and taking care of her mother. Since she had worked for over a decade as a Community Health Aide, she knew to monitor her oxygen levels. When they plummeted, she checked herself into the Alaska Native Medical Center.

Bethel City Council members-elect to be sworn in

The sitting council members are expected to vote to accept the results of last week’s election. The council members-elect are newcomer Mary “Beth” Hessler; incumbents Conrad “CJ” McCormick and Mark Springer; and Eric Whitney, who has previously sat on city council.
