Mahama will be sworn in as president - Azorka The 1st Vice-chairperson of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Chief Sofo Azorka has said that the NDC will swear in its 2020 flagbearer into office as President of the Republic of Ghana on January 7, next year. Speaking to the media at the Tamale Jubilee park where the party ended its demonstration to protest against the Jean Mensah led an electoral commission on 16th December, 2020, Chairman Azorka reiterated the point that the NDC won the just-ended elections. According to him, the former President John Mahama who contested against the incumbent President Akufo-Addo is the legitimate winner, but the EC called the elections for the later.

Dagbon is the new hope of NPP in Northern Region Had it not been because of the sterling performance of NPP Parliamentary candidates in Dagbon constituencies, the party would have lost its current slim majority in parliament. The party has been growing from strength to strength in Dagbon since the beginning of the fourth republic and this growth is expected to continue unabated if the party continues to play its cards well towards Dagbon. NPP currently occupies seven (7) of the thirteen (13) Parliamentary seats in Dagbon making NPP the majority party in Dagbon. Starting from 2004 where the party had only two Parliamentary seats, that was Gushegu and Yendi, it maintained its two seats in the 2008 elections, but this time around, it was Zabzugu and Nanton. In 2012, the party increased its Parliamentary seats to 3 (Yendi, Zabzugu and Tolon). The party again grew its Parliamentary seats to 5 in 2016 (Yendi, Nanton, Tolon, Gushegu and Savelugu) and in the just ended 2020 elections,

Election 2020: Dr Mahamudu To Serve Second Term As Vice President

  Dr Mahamudu Bawumia will from January 7, 2021, serve another four year-term as the V ice President of Ghana. He partnered President  Akufo-Addo as a running mate to garner more than 6.7 million votes to beat the main opposition National Democratic Congress’ candidate Mr John Mahama who polled 6.2 million votes. The astute Economist and a Banker  was elected  the  7th Vice President of the Ghana’s fourth  Republic. He was for the fourth time nominated as the running-mate of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Flag-bearer for the December, 2020 Election, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. Dr Bawumia has championed the Government’s digitisation agenda to make the Ghanaian economy financially-inclusive and expand the tax net to the informal sector of the economy.
