A winter weather advisory is in effect for much of the Piedmont and Tidewater, as a combination of ice and snow will move into the area Thursday night through Friday morning. Expect a light rain and drizzle Thursday morning through midday, with more precipitation arriving in central Virginia by mid to late afternoon. Snow will initially melt on contact Thursday afternoon and early evening but will accumulate late today into early Friday, with 1-3 possible by the time the event ends Friday morning.
