Victims from Thursday s crash in Taylorville Illinois remembered

In his obituary, Zaydin Dudra was recalled as goofy, in the best possible way. Shoot and Dudra were killed late Thursday evening on Illinois 48 near East 1550 North Road between Taylorville and Stonington. Meanwhile, the Illinois Capitol Police investigator arrested in the case is out on bond. Robert M. Hodson, 46, of Taylorville was charged with aggravated driving under the influence involving the deaths on Friday. Hodson posted 10% of his $200,000 bond  Monday. Under terms of the bond, Hodson is not allowed to consume alcohol or use cannabis or illegal drugs and is subject to random testing. Hodson is forbidden from operating a motor vehicle and not allowed into any bars.

State police say 46-year-old Robert Hodson of Taylorville was trying to pass a vehicle on Route 48 and struck an oncoming car head-on. The driver of that car, 19-year-old Haley Shoot of Taylorville, and a 20-year-old passenger, Zaydin Dudra of Taylorville, were killed. Another passenger in Shoot’s car, 19-year-old Jade Thomas of Indiana, has life-threatening injuries. Hodson is on unpaid leave as he faces felony charges in the crash.

Lafayette teen in fatal Illinois crash identified; police investigator charged Natalie Pierre, State Journal-Register © Provided by JCOnline.com (Lafayette) Police lights Illinois Capitol Police Investigator Robert Hodson was arrested Friday and charged with a Class 2 felony following a car crash on Illinois 48 that killed two people and left a Lafayette teen with life-threatening injuries.  The Illinois State Police reported that Jade A. Thomas, 19, of Lafayette, Ind., was transported by ambulance to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries, according to a Facebook post by the state police in Springfield, Ill. Since the crash involved the death of more than one person, if Hodson, 46, is found guilty of the aggravated driving under the influence involving death charge, he could serve up to 28 years in prison. The charge carries a minimum prison sentence of six years.
