A scuffle that led to chaotic scenes at the Abbotsford Christian Centre in East London where thousands of people gathered for the state of the province address, saw an MPL taken to Frere Hospital after she sustained a head injury.

Eastern Cape MPLs received complimentary breakfast and lunch, but were each then also handed R1,000 in cash per night “for supper” during their Taking Legislature to the People programme held in the Joe Gqabi district last week. The programme, held at Bensonvale College in Sterkspruit, ran from January 31 to February 3.
