PM Modi will also flag off the freedom march or padyatra from Sabarmati Ashram. The Mahotsav is a series of events to be organised by the Government to commemorate the 75th Anniversary of India s Independence. It will be celebrated as a Jan-Utsav in the spirit of Jan-Bhagidari. The curtain raiser activities are beginning from March 12, 75 weeks prior to August 15, 2022.

Union Minister of State for Culture and Tourism Prahlad Singh Patel on Thursday said that The Padyatra to be flagged off by Prime Minister Narendra Modi will cover a journey of 241 miles from Sabarmati Ashram, Ahmedabad to Dandi in Navsari and will end on April 5 lasting for 25 days.

Modi said the 75th anniversary celebrations will continue till August 15, 2023. He also flagged off the Dandi March from Sabarmati Ashram on the beginning of the glorious Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. The padyatra will be joined by different groups of people on the way to Dandi. It will conclude on April 5. It was on March 12, 1930 that Gandhiji began the Dandi March from Sabarmati Ashram against the Salt Laws along with 81 padyatris. During the Padyatra, the Padyatris will stay at the place of night halt and the Padyatra will start from the same place the next day.

The Prime Minister will also launch various other cultural and digital initiatives for the India@75 celebrations and will also address the gathering at Sabarmati Ashram. Governor of Gujarat Acharya Devvrat, Union MoS(I/C) Prahalad Singh Patel and Chief Minister of Gujarat Vijay Rupani will also be present on the occasion, scheduled to commence at 10:30 AM.
