Stating that the delay in resumption of passenger trains that pass through junctions in the region is affecting the passengers, the District Congress has urged the Railways to resume the operation of trains at the earliest.
In a letter to the General Manager of Southern Railway, K.N. Basha, vice-president of the Erode District Congress Minority Wing and former member of Zonal Railway User’s Consultative Committee, welcomed the railway’s decision to operate eight trains from different regions of the country to Kevadiya in Gujarat, where the Statue of Unity is located.

MUMBAI: There has been a major jump in unauthorized travellers in suburban local trains, as around 1,500 people are caught daily by Central Railway ticket examiners since January 1.
Even though suburban services resumed from June 15, common citizens are still not permitted to travel. Services are only for essential service workers as categorized by state government.
A senior CR official said, “Between June and December 2020, 70,000 commuters were caught ticketless or for unauthorized travel. This helped us mop up nearly Rs 1.7 crore in earnings from unauthorized passengers. But offenders are gradually increasing, which indicates that people are willing to take a risk of being fined to travel in local trains as their livelihood is at stake.”
Ranchi: After 10 months of closure, passenger trains will resume operations from the Ranchi railway division from January 2 onwards, a statement issued by the South Eastern Railways (SER) said on Thursday.
The statement said 10 trains Ranchi-Dumka special, Tatanagar-Hatia-Tatanagar MEMU, Ranchi-Tori-Ranchi MEMU, Ranchi-Lohardaga-Ranchi MEMU (three trains), Kharagpur-Ranchi-Kharagpur special, Adra-Barkakana-Adra MEMU, Hatia-Rourkela Passenger and Hatia-Tatanagar-Hatia passenger will ply from from Ranchi, Hatia and Adra railway stations.
The passenger train services were shut since March 2020 to comply with the nationwide lockdown norms. Though the railways introduced special trains and festival special trains since July, normal passenger train services remained grounded.

AAA With the railways resuming most of the train services, the District Congress, has urged Railways to resume operation of the Train No 22650 Erode – Chennai Yercaud Express for the benefit of the commuters.
In a letter to the General Manager of Southern Railway, Chennai, K.N.
