GORHAM â The Gorham Fire Department will receive a $29,866 grant to buy lifesaving extrication equipment, often called the âJaws of Life,â from the nonprofit Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation.
Fire Chief Phil Cloutier, who wrote the application, learned it is one of only 96 grants awarded in this latest nationwide funding round.
The equipment is designed to safely and efficiently remove drivers and passengers trapped in motor vehicles at serious accident sites, fulfilling a critical need within the department.
When town manager Denise Vallee announced the award at the Jan. 11 selectmenâs meeting, chairman Mike Waddell, and selectmen Judy LeBlanc and Adam White thanked the chief for his ongoing fundraising successes. Firehouse Subs is pleased to announce the grand opening of its second location in Palm Coast, Florida, at 5615 State Highway 100 East, Suite 112. The restaurant opened its doors to the public on Monday, January 11, under the ownership of Firehouse Subs Franchisee David Hause.
This is the fifth restaurant for Hause, who opened his first Firehouse Subs in Palm Coast in 2003. Prior to becoming a franchisee, he joined Firehouse Subs in 1998 as general manager of a restaurant in Jacksonville, Florida before being promoted to district manager overseeing six area restaurants. He moved to Palm Coast in 2005 and loves its small town feel and the local community.
Berkeley Township Police EMS Division receives grant for CPR gear
The Berkeley Township Police Department’s EMS Division is the recipient of a $14,567.82 grant courtesy of the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation.
BTPD EMS said they will use the money to purchase an automatic Lund University Cardiopulmonary Assist System (LUCAS Chest Compression System and External Power Supply) to fulfill a critical need within the department.
“The Township of Berkeley is thrilled to hear that the Berkeley Police Department-EMS Division has been awarded funds for an automatic chest compression system from the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation,” Berkeley Township Mayor Carmen Amato said in a statement. “Bolstering our first responders’ life-saving capabilities, especially in times like these, is wonderful news for our community.”

TUCSON, Ariz. (KOLD News 13) - Thanks to Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation, the South Tucson firefighters are now better equipped to keep our community safe.
The city of South Tucson Fire Department recently received a $23,033.01 grant award from the foundation to purchase eight sets of bunker gear (V-Force coats and pants; 8 pairs of boots). This equipment will benefit the community by providing the proper gear for firefighters to be fully equipped and ready to address all fire and safety needs.
