On Sunday, May 2, 2021, Gay Lefebvre, 82, loving wife and mother passed away in Southport, NC. She was born November 15, 1938, in Middletown, CT to Ruth and Carl Byloff. Gay graduated from East Hampton High School, East Hampton CT, where she met her beloved husband of 60 years, Richard H. Lefebvre and they raised two daughters in Johnstown, NY.
Gay was a gifted artist and teacher. With two young children at home, she returned to school and graduated with high honors from Skidmore College, Saratoga Springs, NY in 1976. With over 30 years as an educator, Gay spent most of her career as a secondary level art teacher and chair of the art department for the Fonda-Fultonville Central School District. She loved teaching and impacting the lives of young people. She was known for her listening ear, her fiery spirit and her straight talk with her students. She was a tenacious champion for those who needed her most. After retirement, Gay continued her career as a professional wild

FONDA The Fonda-Fultonville Central School District’s Board of Education has scheduled a special BOE meeting at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday. This will be an executive session meeting (closed to the public) to interview potential elementary school principal candidates and there will be no new business after the executive session.

JOHNSTOWN The Greater Johnstown School District Board of Education approved items related to the Hamilton-Fulton-Montgomery Board of Cooperative Educations Services at its special meeting Wednesday night at the Knox Building.
The board voted to approve the $3,747,908 BOCES administrative budget for the 2021-22 school year. The resolution stated that BOCES was also allowed to raise assessments to component school districts, non-component school districts, other BOCES, and other sources as deemed appropriate for the next school year.
Component districts must separately approve such BOCES budgets on an annual basis.
In other BOCES-related action, the Johnstown board approved three open seats for three-year terms on the HFM BOCES Board of Education. Approved for appointment were: Carmen Caraco of the Mayfield Central School District; Rebecca Cozzocrea of the Greater Amsterdam School District; and Matt Sullivan of the Fonda-Fultonville Central School District

FONDA The Fonda-Fultonville Central School District adopted the proposed 2021-22 school budget on Wednesday. The proposal provides support for students while staying at the tax levy limit, according to a news release.
The F-FCSD Board of Education adopted the $30.8 million budget proposal for the 2021-22 school year at its meeting Wednesday. The plan continues all existing student programs and support services, reflecting a 3.34 percent year-to-year spending increase while staying at the tax levy limit. Residents will vote on the plan during the statewide budget vote on May 18. Polls will be open from noon to 9 p.m. in the high school auditorium.
