Rayshard Brooks, tased college students cases in limbo after meeting with Fulton DA
Cases in limbo
Attorneys for two local college students and Rayshard Brooks are pleading for the Attorney General s Office to appoint a special prosecutor in the cases. We were happy to sit down with her face to face, the attorney for Rayshard Brooks widow Tomika Miller said.
The hour-long meeting with newly-elected Fulton County DA Fani Willis left the college student victims of a police encounter and attorneys for Rayshard Brooks widow Tomika Miller, frustrated.
They believe no one wants to prosecute these high-profile cases involving the deadly police shooting of Brooks at the Wendy s and the controversial arrests of two college students this past summer.

Fulton County s elections board voted 3-2 Tuesday to fire Elections Director Rick Barron, who oversaw both the much-maligned June primary and the November presidential election that saw record-setting early voting and few issues. Barron has served Georgia s most populous county since 2013.
The vote mirrors a 3-2 decision made during a closed-door session last Thursday, first reported by the
Atlanta Journal-Constitution and possibly violating Georgia s open meetings law.
A spokeswoman for the county said the county attorney s office is currently reviewing whether the firing must be approved by the Board of Commissioners, since county code requires commissioners to ratify hiring decisions.

JOHNSTOWN The Fulton County Board of Supervisors on Monday authorized county expenditures for area tourism.
Board action came during the monthly session, which was live streamed via Zoom to the public.
“Maybe we can be in person for our March meeting,” said county Administrative Officer Jon Stead. “That’s certainly our goal.”
The board passed a resolution directing County Treasurer Terry Blodgett to remit $61,807 in a county matching funds allocation for the 2021 “I Love NY” Tourism Grant to the Fulton Montgomery Regional Chamber of Commerce. The allocation is effective immediately. The chamber received notification from the state it may not allocate 2021 tourism funds, so the chamber is counting on the county share to promote local tourism.
