Phoenix murder suspect found after escaping police custody in Atlanta Jamie Landers, Arizona Republic
Officials found a Phoenix murder suspect who escaped police custody in Atlanta on Thursday morning.
Sgt. Monica Bretado with the Maricopa County Sheriff s Office said extradition deputies were in Atlanta on Thursday to transport Jssan Strover, 20, back to Arizona on a warrant for murder charges out of Phoenix.
Bretado said while walking to a tram connecting to the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, Strover ran from deputies and entered a forest where they eventually lost him.
The Fulton County Sheriff’s Office, the Clayton County Sheriff s Office and the U.S. Marshals Service worked together to find Strover.

The Fulton County Sheriff’s Office, the Clayton County Sheriff s Office and the U.S. Marshals Service worked together to find Strover.
Strover was apprehended and back in custody about 9 p.m. Arizona time, according to a post from the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office.

Officials confirmed that former Fulton County Sheriff Robert Henry McMichael II had passed away Wednesday morning.
A spokesperson for the sheriff s office said McMichael died at his home. They are asking community members to pray and keep his wife, Kathye, and their daughters Retired Captain Arlene Brooks and Belinda McMichael, their thoughts.
McMichael led the agency from 1989 to 1993. After his time as sheriff, officials said former President Bill Clinton appointed McMichael to serve as the United States Marshal for the Northern District of Georgia.

ATLANTA - Former Fulton County Sheriff and U.S. Marshal Robert H. McMichael, II passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday morning, his family said.
McMichael led the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office from 1989 until 1993. He then was appointed by President Bill Clinton to serve as the United States Marshal for the Northern District of Georgia.
McMichael is a 1960 graduate of Luther Judson Price High School, a 1964 graduate of Morehouse College where he received his B.A., and a 1981 graduate of Woodrow Wilson Law School at Princeton University, where he received his J.D. He completed extensive training at the Atlanta Police Academy and the Georgia Police Academy.
