Tuolumne, CA This weekend’s Mother Lode Views will focus on a pair of significant new county buildings under construction in Tuolumne and Groveland.
Federal grant dollars in response to the 2013 Rim Fire are funding the development of two Community Resilience Centers. Deputy Tuolumne County Administrator Maureen Frank will detail the history of the projects, how the locations were selected, the role the centers will play, and the various community partners who will be utilizing space.

The Board of Supervisors unanimously awarded the contract to build two Community Resilience Centers, one in Groveland and one in Tuolumne, to Sonora based Robert E. Boyer Construction Inc. Deputy County Administrator Maureen Frank reported to the board that the nine companies who qualified to bid all bid prices within about one million dollars of each other. Boyer Construction had the lowest bid at $16,731,476. Frank said, “It is exciting because Boyer has done projects for the county before, we have had a great relationship with them, and he is local.” The first project Frank worked with Boyer on was the Groveland Ambulance Station.

There are a few areas to expect crews to be working this week.
On Highway 12 in Calaveras at Chestnut Street, the shoulder on both sides of the street will be closed long-term for shoulder work.
On Highway 26 in Calaveras on Tuesday, March 2, from Holmquist Lane to Quail Oaks Road traffic will be limited to one-way for utility work. The work begins at 7 AM and plans to conclude by 5 PM. Expect ten-minute delays.
In Tuolumne County on Highway 120 at mile marker 32.2 on the left of Ponderosa Lane and Ferretti Road, one of the two lanes and the left shoulder will be restricted for utility work. The work is scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday from 7AM to 5PM.
