Kentucky Power has awarded its AEPâTeacher Vision Grants, according to the company.
The AEP Teacher Vision Grant program provides aid ranging from $100 to $500 to classroom teachers.
âThese grants are designed to reward the talents and creativity of Pre-K through grade 12 educators devoted to motivating youth to think creatively, to step into leadership roles and to address the challenges of the future,â said Bob Shurtleff, external affairs manager.
The following people received awards:
⢠Amber Cantrell, Elkhorn City Elementary School; Nearpod/Tech program
⢠Jenny Knipp, Carter County Schools; Conserve sockets in General Technology program
⢠Kari Mayhorn, Phelps Elementary School; Virtual Reality and 360 Camera Project
A ribbon-cutting marked the completion of a new apartment complex in the Madison Heights area of Amherst County, as Waukeshaw Development converted the old Phelps Elementary School. The group is also converting the old Bedford Middle School, which was set on fire last year.

To nurture his small but sturdy congregation of fewer than 100 over the past year of COVID has not been without its challenges for the Rev. J. Willard Cofield.
Each and every member of the First Baptist Church of Agawam, though, provides him inspiration, none more so perhaps than Vivian E. Roberts.
Roberts turned 103 on Friday, and Cofield, with help from the entire congregation and the Agawam community, delivered birthday greetings by the hundreds. Literally.
It was the first time Cofield had been able to visit Roberts in person since she moved last September from the home where she’d lived alone since the death of her husband, Norman, in 2006 to Heritage Woods assisted living. For a man of the cloth who thrives on in-person ministry, not having the personal contact has been his greatest challenge of the pandemic, Cofield says.

A vice-principal with the Near North District School Board will face the disciplinary committee of the Ontario College of Teachers for allegedly allowing and supervising a party with underage drinking, drugs and an incident in which a student was injured in a fight.
