Most government offices and facilities in Lexington will reopen to the public June 11th, which is next Friday. Mayor Linda Gorton said “We’ve been waiting for this day for a long time.” “Now COVID-19 is moving into our rearview mirror with almost 60% of our entire adult population vaccinated. That’s 18 and over, fully vaccinated here in Fayette County. So it is time to reopen Government offices and facilities to the public.”
Most offices have been working remotely for nearly 15 months and that includes the city’s Senior Centers, which serve more than four thousand citizens. Gorton said that while she’s glad that just about everything is just about opening, getting the center back open was at the top of her list. “Our senior citizens have really missed their friends and activities at the senior center. LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) â A group of attorneys from West Virginia and Kentucky has filed a lawsuit claiming a woman was raped and sexually assaulted by an officer while she was incarcerated at Federal Medical Center Lexington.
The plaintiff, who was not identified by name, filed the complaint on April 28 in federal court against the federal government and Officer Christopher Brian Goodwin.
According to the complaint, the woman was assigned in August 2019 to work duty refinishing and filling floors at several buildings at FMC Lexington, including offices and administrative buildings. The work was supervised by Goodwin.
Mother of man shot by police says son was sold gun despite history of mental illness

LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) â Sandra Carlton says her son Ryan Jones has a long history of mental illness. Jones was shot on Saturday by Lexington police who said he fired at them first. He was struck in the shoulder and wounded but was treated and released. Jones is now awaiting arraignment in the COVID-19 unit of the Fayette County Detention Center.
âEven when he was trying to buy (guns) I was in the pawnshop begging, âPlease do not sell him this gun, heâs not mentally stable enough,ââ Carlton said during an exclusive interview on Tuesday with LEX 18.
