WPD: Shooting under investigation

Police are investigating a shooting that occurred Sunday morning at 614 N. North St. in Washington Court House. The man who was injured is being treated at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center.

The man who was shot multiple times Sunday morning reportedly departed the area on a bicycle and collapsed about a block later in the yard of a residence at the Grace Street intersection.

The 37-year-old man who was reportedly shot multiple times on Sunday in Washington C.H. was still being treated for life-threatening injuries at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in Columbus as of Monday afternoon.

The Fayette County Commissioners made a couple of appointments during their meeting on Monday, March 1st.
Myron Priest of Washington CH was re-appointed as a Trustee of Fayette County Memorial Hospital, extending his appointment to May 2nd of this year. Beth Potts was also appointed as a county prevention specialist to the Central Ohio Regional Prevention Council for a two-year term effective March 1st.
The Commissioners also authorized the Fayette County Engineer to enter into a contract with Burgess & Niple Inc. of Cincinnati to provide engineering design work for the rehabilitation of bridges on Prairie Road, Snow Hill Road and Zimmerman Road. The contract comes with an estimated cost of $18,500, with the work scheduled for this summer.

A walk-in COVID-19 vaccination clinic will be held Tuesday, March 9, 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Fayette County Memorial Hospital for Fayette County residents who wish to receive the Johnson & Johnson vaccine and are in the eligible categories as defined by Ohio’s Vaccination Program. The clinic will be held in the Women’s Wellness Center in Medical Arts Building 2 on the FCMH campus.
Those eligible to receive the vaccine are Fayette County residents over the age of 60 or persons of any age who are living with Type 1 diabetes, pregnant, bone marrow transplant recipients, living with ALS or who are working in childcare services, funeral services, or are law enforcement and corrections officers. There is no charge for the vaccine.

Adena Health System and Fayette County Memorial Hospital (FCMH) finalized their agreement for FCMH to become a member of Adena, officials from both organizations and Fayette County Commissioners announced in a signing event held earlier today. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The 25-bed critical access hospital, located in Washington Court House, will officially become part of Adena Health System on May 2, 2021, and operate under the name Adena Fayette Medical Center. Adena assumed operation management of the hospital, Monday.
