All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
(RIVERTON, WY) – On November 24th, 2020 Fremont County Sheriff’s Office received a call for domestic violence at a Riverton residence.

This resulted in the arrest of, William Eugene Lewis, 35, of Riverton, with multiple counts of battery, resulting in one felony and four misdemeanor charges.
Lewis, who
is facing up to 12 years in prison, was charged with Unlawful Entry into an Occupied Structure, False Imprisonment, Endangering Children, Domestic Battery, and Property Destruction and Defacement.
According to court documents, the victim had locked Lewis out of the Riverton residence. He became angry and allegedly entered the residence by force with a âbilly bat.â

In May 2014, three deputies with the Fremont County Sheriff’s Office knocked on then 49-year-old Carolyn O’Neal’s door at New Creations Inn, a homeless transitional housing program in Cañon City, Colo., to perform a welfare check after management reportedly grew concerned she might harm herself.
An American woman is $2.4 million richer after a Colorado county paid her the large sum over an unlawful arrest during a welfare check at a sober living facility in Cañon City.
Fremont County paid the sum last week to Carolyn OâNeal after she sued the sheriffâs office for unlawfully arresting her while she was naked inside her apartment in May 2014.
Deputies had responded due to concerns she might harm herself, the Denver Post reported.
OâNeal told three responding male deputies she wasnât going to hurt herself and was naked while preparing a bath but the officers used a key to enter her apartment and tossed her onto a bed before arresting her, the newspaper reported.
