Three persons suffer minor injuries in crash at Fremont and Copeland Roads

By Jim Measel May 10, 2021 | 6:10 PM CALIFORNIA TOWNSHIP, MI (WTVB) – Three persons suffered minor injuries on Monday afternoon when two vehicles collided at the intersection of Fremont and Copeland Roads in California Township. The Branch County Sheriff’s Department says the crash happened at about 2:25 p.m. when a east bound vehicle driven by 27-year-old Jay Phillip Michael of Kendallville, Indiana failed to yield for a stop sign at the intersection and was struck by a north bound vehicle driven by 86-year-old Norbert Kunk of Coldwater. The two drivers along with a passenger in the Kunk vehicle, 86-year-old Martha Jean Kunk of Coldwater, were all taken to ProMedica Coldwater Regional Hospital.

Bronson woman injured in Monday morning California Township crash By Jim Measel May 10, 2021 | 1:30 PM CALIFORNIA TOWNSHIP, MI (WTVB) – The Branch County Sheriff’s Department says a Bronson woman was injured Monday morning when she fell asleep at the wheel of her vehicle and struck a tree in California Township. The crash was reported at about 7:50 a.m. on Fremont Road north of Waters Road. The Sheriff’s Department says 46-year-old Merideth Kaye Goodsell was heading north on Fremont Road when she fell asleep. Her vehicle then crossed the center line, left the road and struck a tree. Goodsell had to be extricated from the wreckage with the jaws of life by the Fremont Fire Department.

Firefighters have contained a vegetation fire behind an industrial warehouse in Fremont to just under three acres, officials stated on Twitter.

Tuesday morning wreck closes US 20, at least two hurt

ANGOLA — An Angola woman was flown to Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne, after a 2002 Chevrolet Avalanche pickup she was a passenger in was struck by a semi-tractor trailer on U.S. 20 at C.R. 600W Tuesday morning. Marion M. Pocock, 53, of Angola was taken first by Steuben County Emergency Medical Services to the Tri-State Steuben County Municipal Airport before being taken via a waiting Samaritan Helicopter to the Fort Wayne hospital. She was last listed in critical condition, said a media release from the Steuben County Sheriff’s Department. The release said Raymond J. Parks, 26, Kendallville, was driving his 2002 Chevrolet Avalanche northbound on C.R. 600W when he failed to yield the right-of-way to the 1995 Kenworth semi-tractor trailer driven by Jose G. Fregoso, 54, Zephyrhills, Florida.
