Oklahoma Teacher Draws Outrage by Calling LGBTQ+ People Sinful A pansexual sixth-grader and her mother are now demanding changes to school policies. April 01 2021 3:07 PM EDT A mother and daughter in Frederick, Okla., are enraged over a comment the girl says her teacher made in class, calling LGBTQ+ people, most specifically transgender people, “sinful.” Sixth-grader Karagyn Snodgrass, 12, who identifies as pansexual, said the teacher at Frederick Middle School made the remark during a political discussion last week, local media report. The teacher’s name has not been made public. “The teacher said that it’s sinful to be trans and change your body,” Karagyn told Oklahoma City TV station KFOR. “It was very infuriating because I have a lot of friends that are LGBTQ and then I am.”

Collective Church helps wipe out medical debt for Marylanders

Collective Churchâs recent relocation wonât only land the groupâs leaders and supporters in new digs, but itâs also helping a nonprofit wipe out medical debt for Marylanders to the tune of $4 million. Collective Church will be moving into its permanent location in the Westview Business Park in January. When fundraising for the project, they put 10 percent of funds aside for charity work. Now, some of that money has found a home at RIP Medical Debt, a nonprofit organization that helps eliminate medical debt in America. âWe want to make a big impact, and this seems for us like a perfect opportunity to do something beyond what we ever imagined weâd be able to do as a church,â said Michael Bartlett, lead pastor at Collective Church.

Memories of Winter Holidays Without COVID

As we settle into the winter season, many of the winter activities of Frederick past are pleasant memories. Christmas and holiday memories for 2020 will be few. We have had Christmas Day with 60 degree temperatures, thunderstorms, snowstorms, sleet, rain and sun. But this year, we have Christmas with COVID-19. I do not remember the Christmas I received my first train, an American Flyer. But, I can vividly recall the Baltimore & Ohio train that ran around the Christmas tree at my Uncle George and Aunt Kitty Castleâs house in Brunswick. Uncle George was an engineer on the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad out of Brunswick. Not to confuse, My Uncle George Bowers was a brakeman on the Baltimore and Ohio and also lived and worked out of Brunswick. The Christmas train at Uncle George Castleâs consisted of a Baltimore and Ohio diesel locomotive and what seemed to be a hundred black coal cars with white âB&Oâ on each side.
