KXLY May 24, 2021 8:07 PM Kaitlin Knapp SPOKANE, Wash. More options are now available for kids looking to get a COVID-19 vaccine. The Martin Luther King Jr. Center in Spokane is offering shots to children 12 and older on Tuesday. The community center has been hosting clinics since February. They have given out more than 1,400 doses to people and are pushing to grow this number. According to the US Census Bureau, there are more than 335,000 Black people in Washington, as of July 2019. However, only about 80,000 have been fully vaccinated. “We are trusted in the community, so if people are looking for a place like the MLK Center to get vaccinated then they can come here,” said Freda Gandy, the executive director of the center.

Vaccine clinic to open in Spokane s East Central neighborhood The one-day clinic held on February 16th and will offer vaccines to seniors that lack access to other clinics in the city. Seniors living in Spokane s East Central neighborhood will have better access to the COVID-19 vaccine this week.  The MLK Center is hosting a vaccine clinic on Tuesday, Feb. 16. Around 125 doses will be available to seniors over the age of 65 and multigenerational family members over the age of 50. The Spokane Regional Health District and Washington State University’s school of nursing will assist with the clinic. The clinic is part of an effort to make sure vaccines are distributed evenly throughout the region - including to communities of color.
