CRESAPTOWN â The Cresaptown Volunteer Fire Department set up a mailbox out in front of the fire hall to receive letters for Santa this year. And rumor has it, he even managed to carve out some time in his busy schedule to pen handwritten replies.
Two young firefighters in the company, Caroline Reid, whoâs set to graduate from the nursing program at Allegany College of Maryland in the spring, and Nick Miller, a recent Frostburg State University graduate, were asked to come up with an idea. They came up with the mailbox, ran it past the higher ups and secured permission to place the mailbox in early December.

The Foundation for Individual Rights in Education has been on FSU’s case for the past month, starting with its directive to penalize resident assistants for talking to the media about the university’s response to COVID-19.

The Bedford County Planning Commission on Wednesday viewed plans for a new SAC Shop convenience store in Wolfsburg.
Meeting via ZOOM, the commission discussed plans submitted by CME Engineering for the current store at the intersection of Wolfsburg Road and Route 30 in Bedford Township.
The plan proposes the demolition of the current store and removal of fuel pumps, fuel tanks and other amenities.
In its place, SAC is proposing a larger, 4,200-square-foot store that would occupy the present site and two adjacent parcels.
The new facility would include new fueling islands with a canopy, fuel tanks, a retaining wall around a portion of the new building, new asphalt and concrete pavement, 25 parking spaces and new driveways.
