Foot Pursuit in McDowell lands one in Jail

On Tuesday morning January 19, 2021 at approximately 1:00 a.m. Martin PD assisted Constable Gary Nelson on an arrest in the McDowell community that resulted in 1 individual being arrested on drug charges. During the investigation Jason Dewayne Kerr of Alabama Age 40 took off running, and was captured in a few short seconds. He had several outstanding warrants thru NCIC. Martin City Police Department makes an alcohol intoxication arrest

Martin City Chief of Police Kenny D. Stidham arrested Merlin O. Conn age 47 of Butler Branch, Printer, KY on Thursday evening January 14, 2021 at approximately 5:30PM. The arrest occurred in the City of Martin at Speedway after police were dispatched to a possible Intoxicated Male in the business. Upon arrival at the scene police located this individual. An investigation was conducted on this subject who was determined to be under the influence. This subject was charged with alcohol intoxication in a public place– controlled substances and was lodged in the Floyd County Detention Center. Kentucky State Police Conducts Assault Investigation in Floyd County

/ WSIP AM 1490 | CBS Sports Jan 6, 2021 1:00 AM The Kentucky State Police Pikeville Post received a 911 call on Tuesday, January 05, 2021, in reference to a shooting in Floyd County. The caller reported two individuals had been shot. KSP troopers and detectives responded to a residence on Caney Fork Road where the caller stated the shooting occurred. The initial investigation indicates Kenny Logan Chaffins discharged a firearm towards his mother and father causing injuries to both individuals. Rhonda Chaffins and James Chaffins were transported by personal vehicle to Highlands Regional Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. As a result of this investigation, Kenny Logan Chaffins was arrested without incident and lodged in the Floyd County Detention Center. Chaffins is currently charged with two counts of Assault 1

Floyd County man accused of barricading inside home after shooting parents

Kentucky State Police arrested Kenny Logan Chaffins, 23, at around 11 Tuesday night. Police say he barricaded himself in his home following the shooting on Caney Fork Road in the David community. The road was blocked for several hours while police tried to get him to come out. Troopers reported in a news release, Rhonda and James Chaffins were taken to Highlands Regional Medical Center in Prestonsburg. They are both expected to survive.
