Created: July 15, 2021 08:15 PM (ABC 6 News) - Crops laid flat and trees were down across northern Iowa Thursday after a tornado swept through the area Wednesday night. Corn in some areas was completely flattened and a few trees were knocked over. The National Weather Service (NWS) visited Floyd County Thursday to survey the damage and their experts said things there were not nearly as bad as they could have been. Basically we found a tornado that had an eleven-mile track. The tornado was mostly EF0 which on the scale from 0 to 5 is the lowest scale tornado, Dan Baumgardt, a meteorologist for NWS said.
