Whenever information is shared, there s always the possibility that misinformation can be dispersed as well. Facts about the civil rights movement are no exception. For starters, people see the movement as a specific moment in American history in which social, cultural, and political unrest attempted to shift paradigms around civil liberties and legislation that restricted Black Americans. While that is partially true, it was really just one part of a greater continuum for change that is still happening today, and it s much more complex than you probably realize.

Instead of the customary day of speakers and honorees, the agency is presenting weekly virtual forums on the theme âThe Black Family,â through moderated interactive discussions with notable county authorities.
âThe Montgomery County Commissioners and our director of Health and Human Services thought that we shouldnât allow a year to go by without having anything for Black History Month, so the committee came up with a way that we could do it virtually,â noted administrative assistant Lora Gonzalez.

Greenhouse gas emissions in the United States are on track for the largest reduction on record, according to a new study.
An analysis by the research firm BloombergNEF estimated that greenhouse gas emissions in 2020 will be 9 percent lower than in 2019, which is the biggest yearly drop to date. The unexpected decrease is largely due to a stunted transportation sector at the hands of the COVID-19 pandemic.
