Verona teen missing, sheriff s office reports

UPDATE: Madison Colvin has been located per the Augusta County Sheriff s Office.  VERONA The Augusta County Sheriff s Office is requesting the public s assistance in locating a missing Verona teen who is considered a runaway, according to a press release. Madison C. Colvin, 15, was last seen Friday morning, April 9, leaving her home on foot.  The sheriff s office said the missing teen is 5 feet tall and weighs 110 pounds. She has brown hair and hazel eyes. The press release said she was wearing gray sweatpants and black pants when last seen. If anyone has information concerning the missing teen, please contact the Augusta County Sheriff’s Office at (540) 245-5333 or Crime Stoppers at (800) 322-2017.

(WHSV) Virginia State Police say one individual is in custody and two others are still on the run after a police pursuit in Augusta County Thursday. State police say a trooper attempted a traffic stop on a Saturn traveling west on I-64 toward northbound I-81 on Thursday, April 8, at 4:23 p.m. Officials say the traffic violation was for the vehicle’s improper registration. Police say the Saturn refused to stop, and a pursuit was initiated. The pursuit concluded when the Saturn stopped on Shirey Road in Augusta County.

Staunton man jailed in sting operation

STAUNTON Authorities arrested a Staunton man Friday following a covert investigation targeting online predators. The week-long investigation by the Augusta County Sheriff s Office, where an investigator posed as a 14-year-old girl, resulted in the arrest of 63-year-old George W. Marshall of Staunton, a press release said. The sheriff s office said Marshall allegedly sent a number of explicit messages to the bogus teen, and eventually agreed to meet the supposed teen at an undisclosed parking lot in Augusta County. However, the press release said the suspect was met by investigators instead. Marshall is charged with attempted indecent liberties by a minor and use of electronic means to solicit a minor.

George W. Marshall , 63, was taken into custody on April 2 and charged with one count of online solicitation of a minor and one count of attempted indecent liberties with a minor.
