A team of researchers has discovered an antibody that blocks the ability of the dengue virus to cause disease in mice. The findings open the potential for developing effective treatments and designing a vaccine for dengue and similar diseases.

There s a new administration on its way to Washington D.C. and Americans are already being vaccinated against COVID-19. Stimulus checks are landing in bank accounts (even if many argue they re too small). Fewer cars are on the highway and we ve learned some things formerly burdensome, like medical appointments, can reliably happen from home.
Dr. John Swartzberg, a professor at UC Berkeley School of Public Health, said despite the pandemic s toll, there are reasons to believe 2020 may have helped pave a smoother road to the future.

Some pompous liberal is giving me grief for saying that the government originally said s short lockdown was necessary to get things under control and get life back to normal. Does anyone have links to articles where the experts made this promise? I can find more recent articles with a search but I am looking for articles that have been making the same promises since the pandemic began.

With hospitals across California pushing capacity limits and COVID-19 cases skyrocketing, the state has become the epicenter of the nation’s latest coronavirus surge, despite aggressive measures to restrict gatherings and save hospital space.
As of Wednesday, California reported 99.3 coronavirus cases per 100,000 people over the past seven days, far exceeding all other states, according to data compiled by the New York Times.
The state saw a record 66,811 new cases on Monday, surpassing its record of 62,661 set Dec. 21, according to The Chronicle’s coronavirus tracker. Dr. Mark Ghaly, California’s health secretary, said Tuesday there are “some signs that the case numbers are stabilizing,” though health experts predict a new surge in the following weeks as the state tra
