Heather Rendulic was 22 when she underwent brain surgery needed to remove a mass that was causing hemorrhages. The risky procedure required months of rehabilitation to relearn how to walk. Her ordeal is chronicled in a book titled “Head Strong: Through Life, Love and Brain Surgery.”

Brain surgery saved Heather Rendulic’s life, but left her with physical disabilities that prevent her from riding her beloved horse Darius, a 30-year-old Belgian Warmblood who now lives on a farm in Butler County. Rendulic has chronicled her ordeal in a book titled “Head Strong: Through Life, Love and Brain Surgery.”
