Coronavirus in Oregon: 248 new cases, 2 deaths, hospitalizations climb again

Coronavirus in Oregon: 248 new cases, 2 deaths, hospitalizations climb again Updated Apr 05, 2021; Facebook Share The Oregon Health Authority on Monday reported 248 new coronavirus cases and two deaths, with cases and hospitalizations continuing to climb. Oregon is now averaging 423 cases a day over the past week, and hospitalizations Monday shot up to 177. Both are the highest levels in seven weeks – but substantially below their respective fall peaks. Average daily cases are up 54% in the past two weeks while active hospitalizations have grown 53% in the same span. Throughout the pandemic, case spikes have been followed by increased hospitalization and, ultimately, spikes in deaths. But with more Oregonians being vaccinated, particularly the most vulnerable to COVID-19, it’s not clear how deadly a potential spring surge could be.
