AIZAWL: Mizoram excise and narcotics department officials and the Assam Rifles personnel, in a joint operation, seized 306.1 grams of heroin worth around Rs 8.05 lakh at Zokhawthar village in Champhai district in the past 24 hours.
Law enforcement agencies arrested R Lalrinkhuma (35) of Champhai town and Vanlalngheta (41) of Khawmawi in Myanmar in connection with the contraband seizure.
The accused persons were booked under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985 and produced in court on Tuesday.

Dibrugarh:
A woman was attacked with acid in Assam s Dibrugarh on Sunday while she was returning home from office, police said today adding that the accused has been arrested.
The woman, 33, sustained severe injuries and has been admitted to the Assam Medical College and Hospital for treatment.
The woman had rejected the proposal of the accused after which he threw acid on her, police said.
The incident took place near Mirzabagh area in Dibrugarh. She was attacked while returning home from Sohum Shoppe, her workplace.
