GUWAHATI: In poll-bound Assam, a BJP booth president was stabbed to death on Friday in Tinsukia district. Investigations are going on, and it has not been ascertained yet whether it was a political rivalry, ahead of the elections.
The deceased identified as Devananda Gogoi, was the booth president of the BJP s Doom Dooma Nagaon booth in Buridihing Gaon Panchayat under Margherita LAC in the Tinsukia district. A resident of the same village, Gogoi was stabbed to death on Friday evening.

The deceased person has been identified as Debananda Gogoi and was the BJP’s booth president under Buhidihing village panchayat in Margherita constituency of upper Assam’s Tinsukia district.

Former Assam Assembly Deputy Speaker Dilip Paul, who ended his 37-year-old association with the BJP after being denied a ticket from the Silchar constituency, said while Prime Minister Narendra Modi has waged a war against illegal syndicates in West Bengal, kingpins of such collectives had been running the show in Assam.
