Guwahati, Feb 13: Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Saturday said that his government has fulfilled all expectations of the people of the state and will come back to power after the assembly elections, likely to be held in March-April this year.

Replying to the discussion on the governor s address on the concluding day of the last session of the present assembly, Sonowal expressed confidence that the ruling coalition will emerge victorious because of the the good work it has done in the last five years.
Assam Govt to Appoint Ace Sprinter Hima Das as DSP
Nicknamed Dhing Express , Hima Das is an Indian sprinter from Assam. She was conferred with the Arjuna Award and also nominated for Khel Ratna Award.

GUWAHATI: Dhing Express - Hima Das will be appointed as a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) in the state of Assam.
The decision was taken by the Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal while chairing a meeting of his cabinet on February 10.
Further, the cabinet decided that sportspersons of the state would be appointed as Class-I and Class-II officers in a different department of the state like Police, Excise, Transport etc, government spokesman and Industry minister Chandra Mohan Patowary told reporters.

GUWAHATI: Bringing in relief for the common people of the state of Assam, the state government has decided to provide free electricity in all households for the consumption of upto 30 units a month.

GUWAHATI: Union Home Minister Amit Shah is likely to visit Assam once again on February 11. This will be the second visit of the Union Home Minister to the election-bound Assam in the last fortnight.
As per sources, Amit Shah would be not only visiting here but also to the neighbouring state of West Bengal that goes to polls soon along with Assam.
